The term "sapphic" is a broad and inclusive term that covers lesbians, bisexual women, pansexuals, and queer women. It is also highly used by non-binary or trans-feminine folks who are drawn to women. 

The word comes from the ancient Greek lyric poet Sappho. She lived on the Greek island of Lesbos around 600 B.C. and wrote passionate, romantic verses dedicated to women.
